Mark 16:12-13
Luke 24:13-35

And after these things
he appeared in a different form to two of them
as they were walking traveling into the country;
and those going away reported it to the rest;
but they did not believe either.
Mark 16:12-13

And look, on the same day
two of them were traveling to a village
sixty stadiums away from Jerusalem, by the name of Emmaus,
and they were conversing to each other
about all these things that had come about.

And it happened during their conversation and discussion
that Jesus himself coming near traveled with them;
but their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

And he said to them, "What are these accounts
you are exchanging with each other while walking?"

And they stood still, depressed.
And one named Cleopas answering said to him,
"Are you only a stranger in Jerusalem and are you not aware
of the things happening in it on these days?"

And he said to them, "What things?"

And they said to him, "About Jesus the Nazarene,
who was a powerful prophet in deed and word
before God and all the people,
how both the high priests and our rulers
gave him over to the verdict of death and crucified him.
But we were hoping that he was the one
who was going to redeem Israel;
moreover with all these things
this is the third day since this happened.

"But also some of our women astounded us,
having been at the tomb early in the morning,
and not finding the body they came saying also
they had seen a vision of angels,
who said that he was alive.
And some of those with us went away to the tomb,
and found it just as the women had said,
but him they did not see."

And he said to them, "O unintelligent and slow of heart
to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!
Did not the Christ have to suffer these things
and enter his glory?"

And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets
he explained to them the things
about himself in all the scriptures.
And they came near to the village
to which they were traveling,
and he made as though he were traveling further.

And they prevailed upon him saying, "Stay with us,
for it is nearly evening and the day has already faded."

And he went in to stay with them.
And it happened as he was sitting down with them
that taking the bread he blessed it
and breaking it he gave it to them;
and their eyes were opened, and they recognized him;
and he disappeared from their sight.

And they said to each other,
"Were not our hearts burning within us,
as he spoke to us on the way,
as he opened the scriptures to us?"

And getting up the same hour they returned to Jerusalem,
and they found gathered the eleven and those with them,
saying, "The Lord was really raised and appeared to Simon."

And they related what happened on the way
and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.
