THE GOOD MESSAGE OF
JESUS THE CHRIST
Harmony
7

Luke 2:21-38

And at the completion of eight days when he was circumcised,
he was called the name Jesus,
which he was called by the angel
before he was conceived in the womb.

And when the days of their purification were completed
according to the law of Moses,
they took him into Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
as it is written in the law of the Lord,

Every male opening the womb
shall be called holy to the Lord,

and to offer a sacrifice
according to what is said in the law of the Lord,

a pair of doves or two young pigeons.

And look, there was a person in Jerusalem named Simeon,
and this person was just and devout,
waiting for the consolation of Israel,
and the Holy Spirit was upon him;
and it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit
that he was not to see death
before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

And he came in the Spirit into the temple;
and as the parents brought in the child Jesus
to perform for him according to the custom of the law,
he took him in his arms and praised God and said,
"Now you may release your servant, Master,
according to your saying in peace;
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you prepared in the presence of all peoples,
a light for revelation to the nations
and a glory of your people Israel."

And his father and mother were marveling
at the things spoken about him.

And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother,
"Look, this one is appointed
for the fall and rising of many in Israel
and for a sign spoken against
and also yourself a sword will pierce your soul,
so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

Also there was Anna, a prophetess,
daughter of Phanuel from the tribe of Asher;
she was advanced many days
having lived with her husband seven years from her virginity,
and as a widow until she was eighty-four years old;
she did not leave the temple,
serving with fasting and prayer night and day.

And coming in at that hour she gave thanks to God
and spoke about him to all
who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
